This immersive exhibition tells the story of the Māori lunar calendar through vibrant wall graphics, props, and interactive displays. Visitors begin their journey through a modular tunnel made of MDF and lit with fibre-optic stars, mimicking the night sky. Wrapped in recyclable Cyclone Wall X, the tunnel was pre-built in our workshop for fast on-site assembly.
Inside, guests explore the four seasons and their connection to sustainable food practices guided by the māramataka. A hands-on scanning station reveals information about produce origins and harvest timelines, encouraging sustainable habits.
Visual highlights include:
• Season titles laser-cut from acrylic with glowing reflective vinyl
• A repurposed kumara pit display wrapped in earth-toned vinyl
• Direct-printed Snowbond panels and plywood elements throughout
• A striking back wall whare (meeting house) built from printed ply and ACM panels, with animated projections and touchscreen content
Te Kitenga o Hina is a rich, sensory experience that blends design, storytelling, and sustainability into one powerful space.
