Kokako – Award Winning Exhibition

About This Project

This is Tamanui is the beautiful story of a Kokako who was removed from his home in the Moki forest by Ngati Tama and the Department of Conservation due to the threat posed from pests in his local habitat. Visitors can delve into the story and discover the commitment to preserve this endangered species and the journey to reintroduce Tamanui’s progeny back into their home.

The bush themed display wall anchors all the elements of the space together, a separate floorstanding display case, and a couple of curved tables provide additional content and an arcade style computer game that immerses children into the story of Tamanui.

The spaces uses different sign materials and techniques:

  • Printed vinyl wall graphics with specialty laminates to create different textures.
  • Fabric printing (Dye-sublimation)
  • Wrapped split rail exhibition panels
  • Fabrication

Our team picked up a Bronze Medal at the 2015 New Zealand Sign and Display Awards  for our work on this project. We love visually showcasing brands and stories. It’s what we do, and stories like this one are why we are so passionate about the work we do in the museum exhibitions space, especially when they are for our local museum, Puke Ariki.
